Domain Expenses

What is the most you have ever paid for a domain?

I had paid for a couple of premium domains before, and never really liked having to pay upwards of $100 or more, just for the domain. But in the long run, it was worth it.

Never paid more than $10 for a domain name. Just need to keep searching for the perfect domain name.

Premium domains are nice, but I cannot justify the costs yet.

$100 or for RoyalKnight.com on NamePros.com auction. I don't own it now though; sold it.
Were you able to sell it for a profit?

I wouldn't mind justifying being able to buy a domain and sell it to make a profit.

No, a loss for $40. Should have just kept it until the value would be thru the roof.

That's the thing. I do own a few good domains, but I am waiting for the right moment to put them on the market for sale. The last thing anyone would want is to sell for a loss.

Did you do any SEO work on the domain before selling it?

No, I haven't done none of that.

I'm very cynical about that business. It's fun to play with, but it's like someone going to Las Vegas. Well, you can't totally be sure on a profit from a domain, unless it's something like a 3 letter or number domain, something like that. Everything else is tough, though, with some skill you "could" strike gold.

💯

I agree with that, it's like playing at a casino. A hit or miss, you might walk away loosing money, or you might walk away making some money. I am not sure when to put my domains on sale, but I will hang on to them for a bit.

Having a pre-made list of buyers could be the solution, but that's very hard, but that's the way with online businesses. No pain, no gain.

I have most domains for the Forum market, I am planning on approaching a few members who I know to buy domains on a few webmaster forums. Hopefully that could help me build some leads.

I think it must have been around $20-30 for a .io renewal if I remember correctly. It might have been a little less but I think I remember complaining to someone about how high the price was

Yeah, .io are between $20 - $30. It's pretty steep compared to the .com/.net/.org domains.

Yeah, it does fit quite well for a discussion forum though so I don't mind it. Plus, I don't like switching names/domains so it's something I'll just have to suffer through for a long time

Yeah, plus IO domains rarely get discounted. Even if they do, they don't get massive discounts, most I have seen is a 10% discount.

Yeah, more than $12 for a domain is not worth it I guess unless it's for a startup company that you are working on.
